Garner falls in NCHSAA Round 3


Garner falls in the the third round of the NCHSAA 4AA playoffs at #1 Middle Creek 49-30. The GNRC Champs season ends 12-2. Appearing in their 6th third round match up in 7 seasons, 6 turnovers and failure to stop the potent Mustang passing game ends their record setting season two game early. Braxton Brokenborough to Chester Crowder Jr. for 49 yard TD puts Garner up early 7-0 but the Mustangs answer just three minutes later. MCreek tacks on two more scores off turnovers for 21-7 1st quarter lead. The Trojan defense stiffens after an interception at the MC 3 to record a safety, their school record 8th of the year. Senior Collin Eaddy 2-yard TD run at 4:37 to halftime cut the Garner deficit to 21-15. A Mustang score makes it 28-15 at the break. Garner allows a TD on the opening drive of the second half to fall behind 35-15. After interception, MCreek converts from 24 yard out for another score & interception return puts Garner in 49-15 hole at the end of the 3rd. Dalton Counts punt return score &  Brokenborough 5 yard TD run completes the scoring.
