Trojans down Millbrook, return to NCHSAA East Final

#2 seed Garner edges #3 Millbrook 92-88 in the NCHSAA 4A East Semifinal. A classic as close as the score closes down Trojan Coliseum after 48 years of Trojan basketball. Garner (29-2) returns to Fayetteville Crown Center for the East final and rematch with #1 Cary on Saturday, March 5th. The Trojans race to 49-36 halftime lead behind but the Wildcats rain 3’s in droves to erase the home team lead. Millbrook leads 79-78 with 3:18 left in sweltering Trojan Coliseum with a sell-out, overflow crowd. Allen hits a big three and his steal & score puts Garner back up & they lead for the remainder of the epic contest. Alex Reed 10points/7 rebounds despite foul trouble (called for 5 though he only committed 3). Omari Harris again flies high with two monster dunks en route to 15 points, at just the right time and Senior captain Nick Kuhns clutch free throws (part of his 19 point night) keep the Wildcats at bay. KD Burt has another monster game on the boards with 9 & 7 points & his free throw with five seconds left followed by Harris’ clinching score from line sends the Defending 4A Champions back to Fayetteville for a second Final 4 appearance. The Trojans 29th win eclipses their own school record for wins by a team set by the 2015 Champions. Coach Eddie Gray earns his 482nd career victory.
