Trojans destroy E.Wake, open GNRC 2-0

#2 Garner starts fast and doesn’t let up inĀ 83-27 demolition of E.Wake to open their conference season 2-0. Garner (5-1) opens with 28-10 first, forcing six Warrior turnovers then 18-0 second quarter run to put the game virtually out of reach before the half. KD Burt records his sixth double-double of the year, with 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead Coach Gray’s Trojans to their 45th consecutive conference win. The Trojan scoring attack includes 11 players, with Marque Maultsby posting 13, Demetric Horton 13 Omari Harris 12 (including two spectacular dunks),. Garner shot a blistering 68% on the night while the Warriors post 33% and suffer 22 turnovers. The potent Trojan frontline out-rebounds EW 27-9, resulting in running clock at the beginning of the 2nd half. The 56 point win is largest for Garner since 2/13/14 when they posted a 92-32 win over Rolesville. Garner continues conference play at Harnett Central Wednesday, Dec. 14th at Harnett Central with both JV teams and both varsity squads.

JV Trojans streak to 47th straight
Coach Bloms’ JV Trojans blowout the Warriors 81-41 for their 47th consecutive win. Donovan Brown 16 points with Sharrieff Dowtin adding 11 in the game with 11 Trojans scoring. Garner (5-0) races to 19-9 first quarter lead and 27-15 second sends the good guys on their way to another notch in the streak. While the hosts just edge EW in shooting 59-56%, an impressive 23-9 rebound margin and 19 Warrior turnovers sends the undefeated Trojans home happy. Todd Burt, Shamon Jackson, & Jalen Andrews 9 points each and Daiveon Dunn & Garrett Capaforte post 8 each.

Freshman Trojans win big over Cardinal Gibbons
Nolan McLean 20 points leads the 9th Grade squad in 74-43 win over Cardinal Gibbons. Darren Ngama adds 17 with his 6-6 shooting, Tom Horton 13 points, 10 rebounds for Garner (3-2). The Freshman Trojans oppressive defense forces 17 CG turnovers and they own the boards with 30-18 margin for the win.
