Trojans make it seven in a row, 70-64 over Holly Springs

Trojans come from behind for their 7th straight win 70-64 over Holly Springs. Garner (7-0) led by JaShaun Smith 13 and Julius Barnes adds 10, including a momentum turning halfcourt 3 as the 3rd period expires. Barnes heave give the Trojans 64-61 lead heading to the final frame, where the Hawks are content to sit in their 3-2 zone for five minutes. Holly Springs manages just 1-of-5 in the final frame, all from beyond the arc. Garner gets HUGE 3’s from Javonte Sims and Davon Newton in the critical third period to erase a non-point deficit and stay unbeaten headed to their GNRC showdown at W.Johnston Tuesday night. Garner 4th quarter stall results in a season lows of 70 points and 50% from the floor but use a dominant 28-13 rebound margin, lead by Kenyon Burt with 9, to offset the Hawks impressive 53% from three-range. The Trojans first game this season with less than 4 double figure scorers.
