Summer baseball, basketball updates

Demetric Horton (’18) & Donovan Evans (’18) lead WCBA Stevens to big wins at the Myrtle Beach BigShots Tourney. Horton earns MVP Honors for WCBA, which include Sal-Bey Young (’18) & Corey Marrow (’18)  after they capture the Gold Championship with 59-53 win over TTG Elite. Horton 15 pts leads them to 69-58 win over Garner Road. Evans has 15 in their 73-58 defeat of Team Felton. Evans scored 12 in 63-62 win over Team Richmond Garner Road to send WCBA to the quarter-finals. WCBA goes 5-0 in the elite tournament.

Alex Reed (’17) score 7 points with 7 rebounds in Garner Road loss to undefeated Mass Rivals at the adidas Uprising 17U Championship in Las Vegas. Former Trojan Thomas Allen scores 18 for Garner Road who include Omari Harris (’17)

Jonathan Davis (’18) & Eric Rodriguez (’17) combined to shutout GBI in 2-0 exhibition win for the Trojans “Yard Dogs” CCSSL team. Wellington Guzman (’17) sacrifice fly in the first and a single and Graham Wilkins (’18) hustles home for the final run in the seventh.

Trojan basketball advances at the Cape Fear Region Jamboree at Westover HS with 6-0 record into Wednesday play. Earlier this summer, Alex Reed (’17) & KD Burt (’18) earn co-MVP for Fred Lynch Invitational Gold Champion Garner, 73-71 win over Mt. Zion played at Laney HS. The Trojans picked up wins against Clinton, Westover, Fayetteville, Millbrook & Mt. Zion (twice) to take the title.
