Garner summer squads split at Sanderson

Senior squad falls 11-6 at Sanderson. Garner strings together 6 straight hits to score 4 runs in the 4th and adds two more in the 5th to take 6-2 lead. But Sanderson rallies with 9-run 6th to take the comeback win. Graham Wilkins and Alex Bloom single to crank up the 4th and Gerard Chamra crushes 2-RBI double to the deepest part of the very large Optimist Park to knot it. Nick Ward drives in Chamra and after Joseph Carawan singles, Brett Banks RBI makes it 4-2. Wilkins RBI single and Aiden Edwards walks and scores on wild pitch to put Garner (7-2) up 6-2 in the middle of sixth. Edwards takes the loss in relief of Dillon Mull who pitches 5 innings of 7-hit ball before Sanderson starts their rally. Garner returns to play after the holiday break Thursday, July 6th vs Sanderson.

Junior team blasts Sanderson
Garner scores eight in the 5th to run-rule Sanderson 15-4. Josh Grimmett pitches four stellar innings, with 7K’s. Michael Hamling two-out RBI plates Jake Good & scores with Rafael Morrera scores on Bryson Galloway single for 3-0 first inning lead. Will Lee RBI scores Good for 4-1 third inning margin. Harrison Garner sac fly & Bodie Banks bases-loaded walk for RBI for Garner (7-2). Sanderson two unearned off Grimmett narrows the Garner lead to 6-4. Grimmett 2-RBI double, Grimmett, Hamling score on Bryson Galloway hot shot. and Morrera races home on wild pitch to increase Garner lead to 11-4, still in the 5th. Addison Norris 2-RBI double & Redd RBI single for the Junior squad win. Hamling closes out the 5th with scoreless inning of relief.

Wheeler, Banks homer in Senior squad win

Dylan Wheeler & Brett Banks slam homers to back Zach Brittain complete game 14-4 win over Triangle in Summer League play. Wheeler crushes his homer to deep right and Banks 2-run shot goes just a bit further, scoring Graham Wilkins. Kaden Brown single up the middle scores Banks to run rule their opponent. Brittain records 7 K’s going the distance for Garner (7-1) who pound out 18 hits on the night. Senior squad trails 1-0 into the 3rd before Brown singles and Nick Ward doubles him home to knot it. Campbell baseball commit Tyler Gillespy walks and Nolan McLean hot shot is misplayed to score two. McLean hustles home for 4-1 lead. Garrett Capaforte & Gerard Chamra record 2-RBI triples for the good guys and both flash the leather with outstanding fielding as well. Brittain cruises until three Trojan errors plate three unearned runs in the Triangle 4th. The Senior team heads to Sanderson Thursday for DH.

Junior team pounds E.Chapel Hill 9-2 to improve to 6-2. Josh Grimmett and Bryson Galloway record RBI for Garner who opens the DH Thursday at Sanderson 4PM

Summer teams sweep opponents

Garner Summer League Senior squad takes advantage of 5 Triangle team errors in 11-3 win at Fuquay HS. Gerard Chamra and Garrett Capaforte two RBI each, Alex Bloom RBI double back starter Aiden Edwards. Harrison Parker has 5K’s in two innings of relief. Garner improves to 6-1, same two teams at S.Garner Tuesday 6PM

Junior team blasts Bunn 16-2 at S.Garner. They improve to 5-2, play at E.Chapel Hill (500 Weaver Dairy Rd Chapel Hill, NC) 4PM Tuesday

Senior squad sweeps Broughton

Brett Banks RBI laser to right gives Garner 4-3 win at Broughton. Banks big hit Garner (5-1) 3-run 6th inning. Harrison Parker earns the win in relief of starter Dillon Mull, with Zach Brittain getting his first save with scoreless 7th. Gerard Chamra RBI single scores Garrett Capaforte for 1-0 Garner lead in the 1st. Dylan Wheeler RBI single plates Chamra to narrow the good guys deficit to 3-2 in 6th. Capaforte hustling home on errant Caps throw to knot it 3-3 before Banks game-winning knock. Garner win after pounding Broughton 13-1 Tuesday earns the sweep of their summer series.

Garner Junior squad surrenders three runs in the Broughton 6th to fall 7-6. Will Lee lead off walk opens the Garner 3-run 6th and Josh Grimmett & starter Michael Hamling singles load the bases. Rafael Morrera sac fly for gives Garner (4-2) the lead and Grimmett races home to extend the margin to 5-3. Addison Norris hot grounder knocks in Hamling for 6-3 Garner Jr lead after six before the Junior Caps rally for the win. Grimmitt takes the loss in relief with Hamling 4IP, 4Ks,

Trojan swimmers win for Hampton Ridge Swimming
At Hampton Ridge Swimming: Eric Croteau, Evan Peeler, Evan Wright and Bernardo Gilbert win their Medley Relay with a time of 2:06.9 & Olivia Gnall, Addie Band, Carson Brown, and Kathryn Kroll win medley relay in 2:23.85. Band, Emily Croteau, Gnall, & Kroll 2nd in free relay 2:09.64. Croteau, Peeler, Gilbert, & Wright win their freestyle relay with a time of 1:55.6

Davis, Mitchell lead Garner Summer League sweep over Broughton

Jackson Mitchell 4 RBIs leads Garner Senior squad 13-1 over Broughton and complete the Summer League sweep for Garner. Starter Jonathon Davis allows just one unearned run in his start, with 3Ks. Gerard Chamra slams solo homer in the 4th after Garner (4-1) posts 7-run 3rd inning which included Mitchell 2-RBI double. He added 2-RBI triple in the 1st.  Chamra has 2RBI, Garrett Capaforte, Alex Bloom, Malik Stephens add RBI for the Senior squad who travels to Broughton Thursday.

Rafeal Morrera two triples, 2 RBI leads the Junior team to 10-6 win over Broughton. Zach Roddenberry, Josh Grimmett, Addison Norris add RBI’s for Garner (4-1). Harrison Garner gets the win in relief of starter Brodie Banks.

Trojan 4X200 claims New Balance Nationals title

RJ Terry (’18) Prestige Bellamy (’18) Randolph Ross (’19) & Jacobi Asor-Sallaah (’18) capture the New Balance Nationals Emerging Elite 4x200m title.  The relay team recorded the 2nd best 4×400 time, 3:34.82. Jonah Ross (’20) finishes 2nd in the New Balance Nationals Emerging Elite 100m finals with school record 11.97. Terry ran 21.67 in 200m good for 5th & scored 10.82 in 100m & Tom Horton (’20) records 39-7¼ in the triple jump & Darien Adams (’17) records 20-6½ in long jump in the prestigious national event.

Summer teams sweep Cary

Garner pounds out 12 hits and Zach Brittain pitches 4 innings with just two hits allowed in 10-3 win over Cary. Tyler Gillespy, Garrett Capaforte, Graham Wilkins and Gerard Chamra record two hits each. Noah Kieft and Nolan McLean add RBIs for the Senior squad who improves to 2-1.

Rafeal Morrera triples and scores on wild pitch for 10-9 Junior team win over Cary. Will Lee goes 3-3 with two RBI, Morrera 2-3 with the triple and RBI double. Josh Grimmett gets the win in relief for Garner (2-1)

Summer Team baseball edged at Fuquay

The Bengals get last at-bat game winners in the Junior and Senior game vs Garner. The Senior squad surrenders 3 in the 7th to drop 4-3 decision at Fuquay. Noah Kieft 2-RBI single in the 1st stakes Jonathon Davis to 2-1 lead the Senior squad until the 6th. Garrett Capaforte drives in Nick Ward to extend the Garner lead to 3-1 before the last inning rally drops the Trojans to 1-1. Tyler Gillespy, Dylan Wheeler (who records 5K’s in two scoreless innings of relief) & Alex Bloom record hits for the good guys who host Cary Thursday night.

Junior team also edged with 3-run final rally by the Junior Bengals 8-7. Michael Hamling starts and goes 3-3 with 3RBIs, Addison Norris goes 3-3 with RBI to lead Garner who bangs out 13 hits. Jake Good, Bryson Galloway and Josh Grimmett register RBI for Garner (1-1).

Garner CCSSL teams open with sweep over Fuquay

Gerard Chamra & Nick Ward 2-RBI each to back Dillon Mull 5 innings, 5-hit pitching in Garner Senior Summer team 7-5 win over Fuquay to open the Central Carolina Scholastic School League summer season. Mull (2-4), Noah Kieft (2-4) & Noah Carawan had RBI’s in the 8-hit performance. Rematch at the Bengals Tuesday night 6:20PM

Addison Norris and Josh Grimmett combined 10K, 4-hitter in the Junior Team 7-3 win over Fuquay. Will Lee bases-loaded triple gives Garner the go-ahead run in their 3rd. Lee was 2-2 with 4RBIs on the day. Michael Hamling, Colby Bloom, Harrison Garner and Bryson Galloway 1-2 each. They open Tuesday’s DH at Fuquay 4:30PM.
