Hines chooses the Wolfpack

Super senior Nyheim Hines (’15)  and his track star twin sister Nyah (’15) have committed to NC State University. The all-time leading rusher in the long storied history of Garner football with 6,242 yards chose the Wolfpack from his 23 college athletic scholarship offers. The 2014 GNRC Player of the Year, Hines’ totals of 126 TD’s, 7,299 total yards, rushing yards, & 8 career kick return scores,, are all school records for a career. His 454 yards vs J.Britt (11/22/13) was single game rushing record for Garner as well as  7 touchdowns in a single game scoring (twice). Garner compiled 37-7 record with two NCHSAA Eastern Finals appearances in his 3-years with the Trojans. Nyah, a nationally-ranked sprinter, chooses NC State track from her athletic scholarship offers. Her Carolina Elite Track Club 4×100 relay team finished 5th in the USATF National Junior Olympics, her 100m hurdles 14.97 ranked her 7th in the nation & 12.97 100m sprint ranks her 22nd for her Junior season last year.

Both athletes are Honor Roll students and self-described “more competitive in the classroom than the field.

Hines record-breaking career stats eclipsed Trojan and Wolfpack alum Anthony Barbour (’88) who remains 5th on the Wolfpack all-time rushing yardage list. Barbour is a member of the inaugural Trojan Hall of Fame class in 2011 and was named to the NCHSAA Top 100 All-time athletes.
